Mr. Moolenaar (for himself, Mr. Connolly, Mr. McCormick, Mr. Griffith, Mr. Lynch, and Mr. Moulton) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Natural Resources
To reauthorize the Adams Memorial Commission, and for other purposes.
Section 1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the The Adams Memorial-Great American Heroes Act
.
Sec. 2. Extension of authority; Location of memorial
(a) Adams Memorial Commission
Section 2406 of the John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act (Public Law 116–9) is amended—
(1)
in subsection (l), by striking 2025
and inserting 2032
; and
(2)
by adding at the end the following:
(n) Authorization of appropriations
Notwithstanding other provision of law, there are authorized to be appropriated $50,000,000 to carry out the purposes of this section, subject to the following limitations:
(1) Non-federal match requirement
Any Federal funds made available under this section shall be matched on a 1-to-1 basis by non-Federal contributions.
(2) Limitation on administrative costs
Not more than 4 percent of Federal funds made available under this section may be used for administrative expenses.
(b) Compliance with Standards for Commemorative Works
Section 1(c) of Public Law 107–62 (115 Stat. 411; 124 Stat. 1192; 127 Stat. 3880; 133 Stat. 750) is amended—
(1)
by striking The establishment
and inserting Notwithstanding section 8908(c) of title 40, United States Code, the establishment
; and
(2)
by striking 2025
and inserting 2032
.
(c) Location of commemorative work
Section 2 of Public Law 107–315 (116 Stat. 2763) is amended—
(1)
by striking The commemorative
and inserting (a) Except as provided in subsection (b), the commemorative
; and
(2)
by adding at the end the following:
(b)
The commemorative work may be located within the area generally depicted as
Adams Memorial: Eligible Additional Areaon the map titledAdams Memorial: Eligible Additional Areaprepared by the Adams Memorial Commission and dated February 25, 2025.
