Ms. Titus introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Agriculture
To amend the Commodity Exchange Act to prohibit entities registered under such Act from engaging in transactions involving sporting event or casino-style gaming contracts.
Section 1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the Fair Markets and Sports Integrity Act
.
Sec. 2. Prohibitions relating to sporting event and gaming contracts
Section 4c of the Commodity Exchange Act (7 U.S.C. 6c) is amended by adding at the end the following:
(h) Sporting event and gaming contract prohibition
(1) In general
A registered entity may not list for trading, facilitate, or clear any agreement, contract, or transaction that is based on, references, or derives its value from, or otherwise involves—
(A)
any sporting event or athletic competition; or
(B)
any casino-style game.
(2) Definitions
In paragraph (1):
(A) Casino-style game
The term
casino-style gamemeans any game customarily offered in casinos or gambling establishments, including slot machines, blackjack, roulette, craps, poker, bingo, lotteries, or any digital or simulated version of such games.(B) Sporting event or athletic competition
The term
sporting event or athletic competitionmeans any live, simulated, or virtual event involving physical or mental skill or athletic performance in which 1 or more participants or teams compete or face a challenge and an outcome, score, or statistical measure is determined, including amateur, intercollegiate, or professional sports.
