To amend title 36, United States Code, to modify the Federal charter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution to clarify its membership eligibility requirements, and for other purposes.
Section 1. Short title
This Act may be cited as the Daughters of the American Revolution Membership Integrity Act.
Sec. 2. Membership eligibility
(a) In general
Chapter 1531 of title 36, United States Code, is amended by inserting after section 153101 the following:
153101a. Membership.
(a) Membership eligibility
Notwithstanding any other provision of this chapter, eligibility for membership in the corporation shall be limited to an individual who—
(1)
is a woman; and
(2)
otherwise satisfies the genealogical and membership qualifications established by the corporation.
(b) Definitions
For purposes of this section—
(1)
the term
womanmeans an adult human female; and(2)
the term
femalemeans a person who naturally has, had, will have, or would have but for a congenital anomaly or intentional or unintentional disruption, the reproductive system that produces, transports, and utilizes the large gamete (ova) for fertilization.
(b) Clerical amendment
The table of sections for chapter 1531 of title 36, United States Code, is amended by inserting after the item section 153101 the following:
